"5 seconds to an anxiety free life"
Ever get anxious about big meetings, job interviews, presentations or exams? What if you could learn a simple technique that would mean you never had to feel anxious ever again?
I used to specialise in getting nervous. I was able to do it any time about anything! So when I came across this technique it was a God send. It comes from Time Line Therapy, which I often use with my clients to help them to clear toxic emotions associated with past memories, change self-limiting beliefs and behaviours and quite literally programme their future with the results they want.
The future hasn't happened yet and it's therefore up to you how things work out. This technique helps you to stop feeling anxious so you perform more effectively, and in turn, greatly increase your chances for success. By the time you've used this technique, you will feel calm and relaxed about the specific future event you used to get anxious about.
STEP ONE: FIND YOUR TIME LINE
We all unconsciously store time. That’s how we know the difference between the past and future! People usually talk with their hands and when they do, they often point in specific directions when referring to their past or future. They may point in front of themselves when chatting out the future or behind themselves when talking about their past or to the left or right. There are many different directions and there is no right way. There’s just your way. So if I were to ask you now, where’s your future, to which direction would you most naturally point? Point to your future now. And your past, which direction would you most naturally point? Again, point there now. You will notice that the directions you’ve pointed to make up a line from your past to your future. That’s your time line.
STEP TWO: LET GO OF ANXIETY
Think of a specific event about which you are currently feeling anxiety about. Now, with your eyes open or closed, imagine floating up above your time line and out into the future to 15 minutes after the successful completion of the event about which you thought you were anxious. When you’ve done that, imagine turning and looking toward now, looking along your time line. Take a nice deep breath in and out. As you do, you may notice that the anxiety has gone. You will feel more relaxed and you may even feel excited about the event you used to feel nervous about. When you’re done, make sure you remember to float back to now. If you want, you can then think about the event and you will again notice that the anxiety has gone.
Remember you don’t need to get anxious in order to perform well. Anxiety puts your body under stress and can actually lead you to perform less effectively, compared to when you are calm and relaxed, able to think clearly. Try this technique for yourself. It’s used successfully all over the world by thousands of people. Why? Because it works!
